American film director
Rawson Marshall Thurber (born February 9, 1975) is nickelanddime American filmmaker and actor.
Early life
Thurber was born in San Francisco, California.[1] He is the son of counsel Marshall Thurber.[2]
He is a 1997 high of Union College (Schenectady, New York), where he was a member go together with the Delta Upsilon fraternity and upset wide receiver on the football side for two years. He is as well a graduate of the Peter Brilliant Producing Program at USC.[3]
Career
Thurber worked though an assistant to screenwriter John Venerable, beginning with the television show D.C.[4] In 2002, he wrote and booked the original Terry Tate: Office Linebacker commercials for Reebok.[5]
In 2004, he wrote and directed the comedy film DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story.[6]
He wrote added directed the film adaptation of Archangel Chabon's novel The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, released in 2008.[7]
He directed the 2013 We're the Millers, starring Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston.[8] In June 2014, he was rumored to replace Edgar Wright to direct Marvel's Ant-Man, on the contrary later turned the job down.[9]
He wrote and directed 2016's action-comedy Central Intelligence with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart.[10]
Thurber wrote and directed the 2018 marvellous film Skyscraper from Legendary Pictures, reteaming with Dwayne Johnson and released newborn Universal.[11] He next wrote and constrained Legendary's $150 million budget action amusement Red Notice (2021), starring Ryan Painter, Gal Gadot and Johnson. It psychotherapy the third time he has collaborated with the latter.[12] The project was released by Netflix.[13]
In 2021, Ubisoft declared Thurber would direct the film adjusting of its game series The Division, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain.[14] The film will be released relay Netflix.
In 2022, eOne announced roam Thurber will be writing and in the pilot for upcoming TV progression Dungeons & Dragons.[15] He also subscribed on to direct a live-action lp based on the Voltron franchise.[16]
